Linden Street School has received a $500 grant from the Exxon Mobil Educational Alliance Program. Employees in the local XtraMart store, located on New Britain Avenue in Plainville, applied for the grant to benefit the Linden Street School community.
According to the grant award notification letter, Exxon Mobil has a long history of supporting educational programs, like Educational Alliance, that focuses on improvements in math and science from pre-school through higher education. Additionally, the letter states that the company believes it is important to encourage the next generation to pursue studies and careers in these fields.
“We are so appreciative of the generosity of the Exxon Mobil Corporation and the XtraMart employees. These funds will support our classroom STEAM program and other Science based curriculum. We can’t thank them enough for this support,” said Interim Linden Street School Principal, Phil Sanders.
“We are grateful to have community and corporate partners who support our efforts to educate and prepare students for success in school and in the world that awaits them following their high school graduation. Funding to support mathematics and science, and the many careers that involve skills in these content areas, is critical to advancing options and opportunities throughout their years in Plainville Community Schools and beyond,” noted Superintendent of Schools, Steven LePage.
